Farewell Dinner and Caving Project Report

Farewell Dinner as organizer
HOST:DNS 20B
PARTICIPANT : DNS 20A AND LECTURERS
On 15th November 2018, we DNS 20B host the farewell party as to complete our Leadership and management project. This is also done to establish a closure among our fellow batch mates and the lecturers involved. The objective of this event is to emphasize on the value of team work among batch mates as well as to create an awe-inspiring memories.
Our Motto is “TOGETHER WE RISE, DIVIDED WE FALL”. To accomplish this event, we did planning way ahead of time and thank god all our plans came to a fruitful ending.
On that evening, we had a wonderful experience adding the fact that the lecturers and our batch mates were not in uniform and formal. Everyone working together as a team and a family grilling the chicken and preparing the food brings joy to our heart. We had a short speech session where it creates a special bond between the cadets and lecturers.
We would like to give our special thanks to Madam Hanim and our batch mates for making this farewell dinner into a memorable evening.

Caving as a participant
On 18th November 2018, we DNS 20B participate on the event that 20A hosted. The project went smoothly and we enjoyed that event. Many of us took this opportunity to learn as a team how to maintain patience and support each other while caving.
It took us approximately 6 hours to complete every check points while caving. It was a tiring experience but it was also hell of a worth! This experience can never be replaced or recreated by any means.
Special thanks to Madam Hanim and 20A because they planned this wonderful event.

How to be a good Chief Mate like My Chief Mate

me and c/m seares

C/M Appoulette

me and all the squad of T.Sakura

me and my captain

Based on my experience when i was onboard,i learn a lot from my outstanding chief officer. His name is C/M Sheildon G. Seareas.According to him,the chief officer has to be a good judge to utilize human resources available for jobs at his disposal by means of communication, team spirit and maintain high levels of safety while executing them. At the same time being too authoritative or domineering while doing so places him on the negative side thereby creating a tense work atmosphere onboard.
The chief officer acts as a vital link between the operational and management staff onboard. Being an active member of the management team onboard and controlling various operations on deck, he experiences frequent role shifts. Following one liners would definitely add to value while a mate plans and executes various shipboard tasks as per my chief mate told to me :

  • ·         Plan, discuss, re-plan and then act on any major jobs with management and operational staff
  • ·         Clear all your doubts before they start turning up into a mistake
  • ·         Check your stores well in advance before planning overhauling, exhaustive maintenance
  • ·         The best technical team onboard is available in the Engine Room
  • ·         Appreciate, listen to and encourage team members and subordinates
  • ·         Understand and access potential and calibre of each member of your team
  • ·         Always plan work rest schedule considering some extra couple of hours for any emergency
  • ·         It’s always wise to have a good inventory of stores prior ordering next
  • ·         Prior arrival ports it is wise to plan service, repairs or rescheduling considering facilities available, duration of port stay and port rotation and above all these Safety and Emergency preparedness is a priority
  • ·         Do not hesitate from giving feedbacks or returning substandard stores
  • ·         A healthy interaction with shore authorities, cargo surveyors and loading masters can save a great deal of time and efforts on both sides
  • ·         Never hesitate to prevent any unsafe acts or take more time to inspect and assess risk factors associated with any job directly under your supervision

·         Different nationalities have different styles of working and culture , adapting or understanding them improves the overall efficiency of the team
Thus, before a Chief officer gets promoted to his next rank as a Master where his role becomes more of administrative and managerial, his present rank as a First Mate gives him a lot of insights and understanding into operational aspects and cultural differences, difficulties involved, decision making and its impact on shipboard staff and commercial interests .These certainly are handy when his role as a Master is much wider – more of a directional nature and a guide. The rank of chief officer can be highly decisive in laying foundation of a future Master with good leadership skills and decision making abilities.
Tq Sir for sharing this knowledge with me.I will never forget all the knowledge that u gave to me.
SALAMAT MIRAMI PO SIR....

Controlling the Birthday Party (Controlling in Leadership Management)

Planning a birthday party can feel overwhelming, but it’s not if you break it down into small tasks.
Follow this timeline for the weeks and days to ensure you always in control the party and for the party agenda itself, and the event should run smoothly.

1)      Two Weeks Before the Party
  • ·         Sit down with your child and choose a party theme. Begin brainstorming how you’ll incorporate the theme into the decorations, cake, favors and other party details.
  • ·         Set a date.
  • ·         Book a venue or entertainment, if desired.
  • ·         Order invitations or purchase the supplies you'll need if you're making them yourself.
  • ·         Set a budget.
  • ·         Write up a guest list.
  • ·         Begin shopping for gifts for the birthday kid

2)      0ne week Before the Party
·         Buy stock invitations from a retail store if you didn’t pre-order some.
·         Put together, write and send out the invitations. Be sure to include the party’s start and end time, your phone number, directions to the party location and the party’s theme.
·         If your child still naps, set the party time with that in mind. Toddlers, for example, often nap between 1 and 3 p.m., so hold a party for that age group either in the morning or late afternoon.
·         Shop for party supplies, such as decorations and items you may need to make the favors. Shopping early allows you the time to order items online if you can’t find them locally.

3)      Two Days Before the Party
·         Shop for groceries and do prep work on any menu items that won’t spoil.
·         Wrap birthday gifts.
·         If you’re serving pizza or something similar, place your order.
·         Arrange to have a neighbor or friend watch your pets during the party. Doing so is less stressful for the animals and helpful if any of the guests have allergies or fears.
·         Buy any party supplies you still need, such as plates, napkins, cups, dinnerware, toothpicks, matches or candles.

4)      One Day Before the Party
·         Charge your camcorder and camera batteries.
·         Rent any movies you’ll be showing at the party.
·         Clean the party area.
·         Do any decorating you can at this time, such as hanging streamers and banners
·         Set up whatever you can that won't be disturbed between now and the party time tomorrow, such as setting the table, setting up party game props or placing buffet servers that can be filled with food just before the party.
·         Make the cake or confirm your order with the bakery.

5)      On the Morning of the Party
  • ·         Confirm food arrangements.
  • ·         Finish any other food prep work.
  • ·         If you choose, drop off your child at a friend, relative or baby sitter’s house so you can focus on the party details.
  • ·         Drop off your pet at a neighbor or friend’s house, if that has been prearranged.
  • ·         Pick up balloons, if using, and the cake, if ordering.
  • ·         Complete the decorating of the party area.
  • ·         Set up the games or other activities.
  • ·         Put out the party favors.
  • ·         Place a sign in your yard or tie balloons to your front door to help guests find your house.

6)      Just Before the Party Starts
  • ·         Pick up your child, if she or he is still at a friend's house.
  • ·         Set out the food and drinks.
  • ·         Turn on some music.
  • ·         Set out the candles and matches, so you’re not scrambling to find them when everyone’s ready to sing “Happy Birthday.”
  • ·         Place your camera and camcorder in an easily accessible spot.
  • ·         Set out a notepad and pen so you can write down the gifts that were given, which will be helpful when it comes time to write thank you cards.
  • ·         Take some photos of the party scene and cake in case things get too busy once the guests arrive

Idola Sanjungan Saya(TN.GURU DATO HJ NIK ABDUL AZIZ NIK MAT)

DISAAT PEGURUSAN JENAZAH BELIAU

MENANGISI PEMERGIAN PEMIMPIN AGUNG

To My Dearest Daughter

A daughter is like a treasure trove

Full of smiles, laughter and love

She is like an antique wooden chest

Filled with memories that are the best

Just like a colorful a box of sweets

A daughter is full of delights and treats

I feel blessed to have such a daughter

Here’s hoping I can be a worthy father

I love you
To my dearest daughter…

I want you to be little

Forever and ever

I want you to grow up

Absolutely never

In my loving arms

I want you to always stay

I don’t want you to

Ever go away

I love you
To see you all grown up

Full of confidence and beauty

To see you all mature

So suave and savvy

To see you so successful

In your life’s prime

I feel proud of myself

As a parent all the time

I love you
Your journey

From being girly

To becoming

A beautiful lady

As a father

For me to see

Has been nothing but

Eternally lovely

I love you

SEAFARER

May I for my own self song's truth reckon,
Journey's jargon, how I in harsh days
Hardship endured oft.
Bitter breast-cares have I abided,
Known on my keel many a care's hold,
And dire sea-surge, and there I oft spent
Narrow nightwatch nigh the ship's head
While she tossed close to cliffs. Coldly afflicted,
My feet were by frost benumbed.
Chill its chains are; chafing sighs
Hew my heart round and hunger begot
Mere-weary mood. Lest man know not
That he on dry land loveliest liveth,
List how I, care-wretched, on ice-cold sea,
Weathered the winter, wretched outcast
Deprived of my kinsmen;
Hung with hard ice-flakes, where hail-scur flew,
There I heard naught save the harsh sea
And ice-cold wave, at whiles the swan cries,
Did for my games the gannet's clamour,
Sea-fowls, loudness was for me laughter,
The mews' singing all my mead-drink.
Storms, on the stone-cliffs beaten, fell on the stern
In icy feathers; full oft the eagle screamed
With spray on his pinion.
Not any protector
May make merry man faring needy.
This he little believes, who aye in winsome life
Abides 'mid burghers some heavy business,
Wealthy and wine-flushed, how I weary oft
Must bide above brine.
Neareth nightshade, snoweth from north,
Frost froze the land, hail fell on earth then
Corn of the coldest. Nathless there knocketh now
The heart's thought that I on high streams
The salt-wavy tumult traverse alone.
Moaneth alway my mind's lust
That I fare forth, that I afar hence
Seek out a foreign fastness.
For this there's no mood-lofty man over earth's midst,
Not though he be given his good, but will have in his youth greed;
Nor his deed to the daring, nor his king to the faithful
But shall have his sorrow for sea-fare
Whatever his lord will.
He hath not heart for harping, nor in ring-having
Nor winsomeness to wife, nor world's delight
Nor any whit else save the wave's slash,
Yet longing comes upon him to fare forth on the water.
Bosque taketh blossom, cometh beauty of berries,
Fields to fairness, land fares brisker,
All this admonisheth man eager of mood,
The heart turns to travel so that he then thinks
On flood-ways to be far departing.
Cuckoo calleth with gloomy crying,
He singeth summerward, bodeth sorrow,
The bitter heart's blood. Burgher knows not —
He the prosperous man — what some perform
Where wandering them widest draweth.
So that but now my heart burst from my breast-lock,
My mood 'mid the mere-flood,
Over the whale's acre, would wander wide.
On earth's shelter cometh oft to me,
Eager and ready, the crying lone-flyer,
Whets for the whale-path the heart irresistibly,
O'er tracks of ocean; seeing that anyhow
My lord deems to me this dead life
On loan and on land, I believe not
That any earth-weal eternal standeth
Save there be somewhat calamitous
That, ere a man's tide go, turn it to twain.
Disease or oldness or sword-hate
Beats out the breath from doom-gripped body.
And for this, every earl whatever, for those speaking after —
Laud of the living, boasteth some last word,
That he will work ere he pass onward,
Frame on the fair earth 'gainst foes his malice,
Daring ado, ...
So that all men shall honour him after
And his laud beyond them remain 'mid the English,
Aye, for ever, a lasting life's-blast,
Delight mid the doughty.
Days little durable,
And all arrogance of earthen riches,
There come now no kings nor Cæsars
Nor gold-giving lords like those gone.
Howe'er in mirth most magnified,
Whoe'er lived in life most lordliest,
Drear all this excellence, delights undurable!
Waneth the watch, but the world holdeth.
Tomb hideth trouble. The blade is layed low.
Earthly glory ageth and seareth.
No man at all going the earth's gait,
But age fares against him, his face paleth,
Grey-haired he groaneth, knows gone companions,
Lordly men are to earth o'ergiven,
Nor may he then the flesh-cover, whose life ceaseth,
Nor eat the sweet nor feel the sorry,
Nor stir hand nor think in mid heart,
And though he strew the grave with gold,
His born brothers, their buried bodies
Be an unlikely treasure hoard.
