Leadership style that motivate me onboard of ship.

287 days, The period i spent onboard of ship. I wont say that i had a good time all the time in the ship. It was kinda rollercoaster ride...Full of ups and downs, stress, frustrations, happiness, sadness and all the kind of mixed feeling that one human can have. Moreover it was the first time I'd been at sea. Not only im the only one almost most of my ship crew experienced that. Whatever it is the work must be done in ship. So what is the solution for getting a positive outcome from us and to motivate us.
It must be good leadership style that must perform by the superior. Thank god all my superior were the best leaders that one crew can get.

Good leadership is very important because weak leadership provides no guidenes. It confuses people and demotivates them and create poor working environments.

Let me explain about leadership style protayed by one of my superior. He is one of the guy who mostly loved by the crew. I can say that he having two faces. The first one is tiger face, the second one is dolphins was. He will change to tiger in case there is need to control the situation in case of emergency of conflict. He will show dolphin face when he listens to others opinion. A good leader is also a good listener. He is also very decisive in making decisions in a needed situation. As you all know the hectic in inside the ship is hard to control because you are running out of time. As a good leader he will cooly handle the situation by delegating the work to everyone so that we can finish it early as possible. The calmness from the leader is what we needed as an employee because when we already in pressure we don't want any extra pressure from the leader itself. This is the main reason why my vessel always get praise from the office.

Other than that, he also never hesitate to recognize the good work done by any crew. This will motivates the crew to push harder to give positive results continuesly. Not only that, during the festival times he will organise games, so that the ship crew can get some relief from the hectic jobs and relax and enjoy themselves. This looks like small thing but its actually a big reason behind the positive outcome. Only a good leader will understand that the employees are humans not a man made robots. He also rewards people with his own money to motivates them. He will make sure the food served onboard must be A class because food is the top most motivation for them onboard a ship. Its must be maintain at top class if want to get good results. He also will take care of crew entertainment is well maintained.

From my point of he was an example to me how to be a good and effective leader. I learned a lot of thing from him and from his leadership style. If god blesses me and i become a captain i hope i can follows his footsteps to lead the cres members onboard of the ship.

ORGANIZATION

"Organization is the essential instrument by methods for which the managerial procedure is continued working." The term organization is derived from the word 'organicism' which means an organised body of interdependent parts sharing common activity. Organization is the type of each human relationship for the accomplishment of a common purpose. 'By organization we mean arranged system of cooperative effort in which every member has a perceived task to carry out and obligations and assignments to perform.

Organization is the formal structure of power through which work sub-divisions are masterminded, characterized and composed for the characterized goal." Organization is worried about the examples of connection between people in an enterprise, so developed as to satisfy the enterprisers work. Organization consists of the relationship of individual to people and of gathering to bunch which are so identified with achieve a deliberate division of work.

Organization is the game plan of work force for encouraging the achievement of agreed purpose through responsibility. organization is an arrangement of intentionally planned activities of at least two people. Organization is the relating of efforts and limits of people and group engaged upon a common task so as to secure a desired target with the slightest friction and the most fulfillment for whom the assignment is done and those occupied with the enterprise.

The term organisation connotes different things to different people. It is used in three different senses that is the act of designing the administrative structure, both designing and building of administrative structure and the administrative structure itself. These three views represent a mechanistic (structural) view in the sense that they do not convey the idea of human relationships (informal relations). However, an organisation is both a structure and a set of human relationships.

The real leader who conquered nearly half of the world! ALEXANDER THE GREAT

Alexander The Great is a well known name in pages of world history. He is the the leader that I idolize the most. I admire him because he took enormous afford and risk to achieve the highest position he could possibily reach.

He is one of the greater rulers in history who conquered nearly half of the world. His empire is extended from Ionian sea to Himmalays. Alexander discovers around 20 cities. He also famous for his eyes which is one of his eyes is brown colour and another one is blue. The quality of him which make me to admire is his decision making, stubborn and calculating nature. It is sad to know that he died at age of 32 at Babylon but he is known as the greatest military genius of all time.

He was appointed as regent when he was just 16 years old. This was his first real taste f political and military power. Some people will call him dictator, but for me that is one of important thing to be a good leader and achieve unachievable things. On the other hand, Alexander was extremely charasmatic. His army did seem to "love" him and the people he conquered seemed to love him just as much. I believe he may have been one of the most charasmatic people who has ever lived. I think because he was genuine. He really loved people in return, he reflected back some of humanities best characteristics and now for the theory part-I think his charisma was so strong that all these almost 2400 years later it still attracts people including me. That's why he still generates so much interest. But if I had to be honest-I would have to say that as I am usually quiet I'd love to have some of that charisma and ability to relate to all people.

The other thing I like about Alexander is that he was no fear for strangers. The closest equivalent we have to him in modern times is of course Adolf Hitler, but there is a crucial difference between the two. They both rampaged their way through much of the world, it is true, but while Hitler ruthlessly killed certain groups he hated, Alexander was more than content to allow the people he conquered to follow their own ways and he even married into the alien dynasties he overthrew.

As overall, his actions speaks louder than the words, his achievement proofs that good leadership quality will make you conquer the world. Perhaps he might conquer the whole world if he lived longer. I wish i can impliment some of his qualities which can helpful for my future. To be honest I love to dominant which is why i think im attracted to Alexander.

A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE- BY TUN DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD

TUN DR MAHATHIR MOHAMMAD

Dr Mahathir Mohammad has made Malaysia to be modern and well off with vast opportunities for the indigenous Malays who can now enjoy a higher standard of living .The genius of Mahathir lay in holding the three major tribes together while supervising the country’s progress. He pulled the country out of economic recession in the late 1990s and built the infra-structures necessary for economic growth. Malaysia is now a model for Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam more than Singapore. I would give three cheers to Dr Mahathir!

It is about 800 pages thick but I managed to finish it in three days. I bought it for Ringgit Malaysia 88 ringgit. The book explains Mahathir’s own insight into his childhood, education, growing up both as a young man and a politician and finally his view of Malaysia’s development throughout his 22 years. I suppose it is easier to read when you know how his mind works, Simply genius!

The book is interesting reading because it is written in simple and direct to the point where you can easily understand. As usual, you get the feeling while you are reading the book that it does not matter to him whether you agree or disagree with what he has written. He just wants to state his views as he sees it. I actually like this attitude! For example, he writes “This is the problem with the Americans – they want their defence industry to make money and be commercially successful. So they are eager to sell their arms”.

What I found impressive about the book is actually the simple manner in which it is written. He also recounts and analyses various vital events in the Nation’s history without complex language. Keeping in mind that this is the memoir of a former Prime Minster who has served almost 22 years, recounting diverse historical events is not an easy task. He discusses various political and national issues that arose during his premiership in a candid manner, sometimes probably too candid for some.

I find this book important to be read by everyone as it will give an insight into a Malaysian Prime Minister’s mind, particularly one who had undergone major political challenges during his time.

And guess what, he is back in action again! Eventhough he is 92 year old he showed up and came to this nation from getting sink. I hope and wish he can recreate the good old time during his last spell as prime minister before this. He also now holding the guiness world record for world's oldest prime minister. So there will be another section to be add in that book soon. Its not the end!

Being A Seafarer

The life of a seafarer offers a wider variety of experiences. Adventure, seeing different ports, traveling abroad--all are aspects of the seafarer’s life. Hard work, being away from family and friends, long times at sea-all are what some might consider disadvantages. Add to that the fact that a seafarer would have to be very wealthy or willing to work long, hard hours for someone else in order to experience the life, and consequently would have little time to enjoy the experience.

Pros -
1.       You can visit all the exotic and beautiful places around the world (in the areas which your ship trades) and that is free of cost. :)

2.       You can lead a very adventurous life in the seas, enjoy its beauty, breathe the purest air in the world, and also indulge in activities such as fishing, photography etc.

3.       You can enjoy the craziest parties only onboard a ship. :)

4.       You will also earn attractive wages during your stay onboard.

Party time

Cons -
1.       If your ship trades between far away ports, most of the time your are in the open sea. So the frequency of visiting different places gets reduced during your total stay.

2.       You are away from your family during these time and communicating to your loved ones gets reduced considerably. so it can make you feel homesick.

3.       The ship rolling and pitching can take your sleep away for days.

    4.       Sometimes mother ocean gets very angry   terribly bad-weather experience which can make you feel quiting the job.

My Idol

Bill Gates is my Idol because not just he is richest man in the world he has done so much to make our world better. As a result of his contributions to technology, we are enjoying a high degree of efficiency and productivity in offices, schools, factories, hospitals, etc. His generous donations to non - profit organizations has had a significant impact in developing educational programs. He has not just helped our world in technology, but has also helped people from poor and under-developed countries. He has made several foundations for various causes in the past few years.

Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, have endowed a foundation with more than 24 billion dollars to support philantropic initiatives in the areas of global health and learning, with hope that as we move into to 21st century, advances in these complicated ideas will be available for all people. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated more than 2 billion dollars to organizations working in global health and more than 2 billion dollars to improve learning opportunities, including the Gates Libraries in low-income community projects and annual giving campaigns.

Their foundation currently focuses on its attention on three areas: vaccine-preventable diseases, reproductive and child health and conditions associated with poverty. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is dedicated to sharing the promise of new technologies with all citizens. The foundation is focusing its efforts in three critical areas: education, libraries and public access to information. A couple of months ago, he has made grants to help the people who are in poverty get free vaccinations .

Recently, he's been giving other countries awards, because he supports their passion for helping the people in need. One of his recent awards was on June 3, 2004, when his foundation recognized the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee, a pioneer in developing world health, for its service to some 31 million poor in Bangladesh.

What he has done for the past few years of his life make him a hero because, he used his profits from his business to benifit people's lives who are unfortunetly poor. Also, he has made so many changes in our would technologically, that has saved lives as well. For example, some of his technologies that he invented and/or has improved in his life have been used in life support machines which are used on people that are ill everyday. Bill Gates is my hero because I have acknowledged his achievements in improving our technology to save lives and has donated money to save lives as well.

BREAKING NEWS: ARSENE WENGER GOING TO RESIGN AS ARSENAL MANAGER AT END OF THIS SEASON!

Hye guys, As a Arsenal fan this is one of the saddest moment for me. At last after 22 years at Arsenal the man who carry the team by himself to place where they are now made a decision to leave the club. So i want to pay my tribute to him for what he done with this team for past 22 years.

He is a French football manager and former player. He was the manager of Arsenal from 1996 to 2018, where he was the longest-serving and most successful in club history. His contribution to English football through changes to scouting, players' training and diet regimens revitalised Arsenal and aided the globalisation of the sport in the 21st century.

Arsene Wenger was named manager of Arsenal in 1996 and two years later led the club to a league and FA Cup double. The club won another league and cup double in 2002 and retained the FA Cup a year later. In 2004, Wenger managed Arsenal to an undefeated league season, a feat last accomplished by Preston North End, 115 years previously. Arsenal later eclipsed Nottingham Forest's record of 42 league matches unbeaten and went seven more matches before losing in October 2004. The club made their first appearance in a Champions League final in 2006, though they lost to Barcelona. After a period of almost nine years without a trophy, which coincided with the club relocating to the Emirates Stadium, Wenger guided Arsenal to further FA Cup success in 2014, 2015 and 2017.

Arsene is very famous for his football philosophy. Throughout his managerial career, Wenger has trusted his players to perform and learn from their own mistakes, a quality Vieira regards as his biggest strength and weakness. Wenger encourages sportsmen to show intuition, and makes observations rather than explicitly giving orders. Campbell reflected that his former manager "puts a lot of onus on players to change the game" and "he wants certain players – especially in the last third – to be able to produce it and give something different". When Wenger joined Arsenal, he spoke of his desire to see "real, modern football. That means compact lines, of zones, of quick, coordinated movements with a good technique." He characteristically focuses on the strengths of his teams, rather than looking for areas to exploit the opposition.

Wenger was one of the first managers in English football to scout abroad for talent. His double-winning team of 1998 was described by editor Jason Cowley as "a model of racial and multicultural integration. They were the first truly globalised team". Richard Jolly writing for The National added that Wenger aided the Premier League's globalisation and "showed the merit of hiring foreign managers on the basis of their record abroad".

So as a fan of Arsenal football club I knew how important Arsene is to this club.Through thick and thin, his loyalty to Arsenal FC has been unparalleled. When the time was going right, and Arsenal FC were winning trophy after trophy and going unbeaten for a complete season, and during the bad times, even after attracting interest from many top clubs, he stayed back in Arsenal. That speaks volumes of the belief he had in the club and the team he was preparing. His mere presence brought a sense of hope in the Arsenal faithful. Even after going without a trophy for so many years, there are many fans who still think he can bring back the glory days to Arsenal.

It is true that, at times, the fans tend to show impatience in his decisions and get disappointed seeing the players leave, but it is also true that his work as an Arsenal manager since joining the club cannot be emulated. Having said that, it is for him to see and understand, how much he respected by the fans and people at Arsenal alike, and truly, there has and there can be only ‘ONE ARSENE WENGER.’

                                 Thank you for everything Arsene,#MerciArsene

My review on Nasi Lemak Burger...( current talk of the town)

Good day guys,,... Today im going to share my review on the current talk of the town which is Mcdonald's Nasi Lemak burger. As Malaysian we all know our love towards the Nasi Lemak, and now the Mcdonald introduced Burger in combination with Nasi Lemak.

NASI LEMAK BURGER SET

Last weekend i went to Mcdonalds to check it out about this nasi lemak burger and how good it tastes. Mcdonald’s Nasi Lemak Burger is sold at RM14.95 for an ala carte and RM16.95 for a regular set meal, that includes French Fries & a 100PLUS (free re-fill). They allow you to change to other drink if you want.

I ordered the Nasi Lemak burger set at RM 16.95. It takes them a while as this is a new product and there is also a long queue for it. It is not shocking there are many people curious out there on this Nasi Lemak burger including me.

Let’s take look at the Nasi Lemak Burger. It is not as big as they advertised but the size and portion are big. It is bigger than the other burgers. What’s under the buns is the fried chicken meat, sambal sauce, sautรฉed onions, fried egg and sliced cucumbers. What is missing from the usual nasi lemak is the rice, peanuts and ikan bilis (anchovies).

The sambal sauce is sweet and not that spicy and for those spicy lovers, you might complain on the sauce. Please take note that, this Nasi Lemak burger is targeted children to old people so it is hard for them to make it too spicy. I would love to have crispy anchovies in that burger but I know that will make their kitchen more complicated as it requires them to deep fry the anchovies which means they need an extra fryer. Frying anchovies creates strong smells that might not be friendly to all the guests.

Overall I would say I enjoyed the burger and its flavor. I also recommend you guys to try this atleast one time. Hope you enjoy the burger like I do.

Its been 16 years and I'm still spoiling with these creatures ( Machans for life)

One of the major reason behind my smiles are my friends. Especially those guys who im going to talk about. At first, for your information im a tamil school guy which is Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Nilai. Since stepped into the school when i were 7 year old, my journey started with these annoying creatures. To be specified, im talking about my friends Gopi, Mathan, Suman, Tharmaseelan, Sridaran and Indrajith who are still with me and just one call away from me right now.

MATHAN

GOPI
SRI DARAN

SUMAN

INDRAJITH

First of all I would like to take this moment to thank them for staying with me for this long. They stood beside me during my ups and downs and continue support me. They were there when I need them and Im very sure they will be there in future too.

Let me start telling about them.... the first two guys Gopi and Mathan, dont be shocked if I tell that they are brothers with same age. yes Mathan is eldest and Gopi is the younger to him. They both born on same year but different month. One guy on February and another guy on December. To be honest they were not really excellent in academic during their school day but who need A+ in public exam when you have excellent business skill to earn money. At this moment they owned 4 cargo lorries and both have their own cars and running their business successfully while studying. They studying Bachelor in Business administration at Manipal International University. Maybe they can be at good example to the student who are worrying about their result during school time. They proofed that 'A' s does not determine your future, you yourself who are going to determine your future.Next guy will be Suman( baby) who traveling with me since my tadika time. He is the most kind hearted guy that I ever known. He now studying in Nilai University for Bachelor in computer science. I hope he will successfull in his studies and make her parents proud. Another fact is his elder sister and my elder sister also close friends for long time where they also studied in same school since standard one. Tharmaseelan also known as Don among my friend circle who is very good in IT works. I bet you that you cannot see a person so calm like him. To be honest i never ever seen before he getting angry to other person. He also stdying in Nilai University with Suman. Aannnnd here comes the funniest guy in my gang, Sridaran. now he is studying in MMU Melaka. He can make me laugh all day long with his jokes. When comes to help he is the one of the guy i rely with. Next will be our Silambam champion Indrajith (kambu). He was the world  Silambam Champion under his category for continuously for 3 years, He also undefeated silambam player in sukma. He is such  proud for us. I hope he will achieve more heights in his life. Once we all were studied in same university which was Manipal International Univesity for our foundations where our last year spent together.

2013

I want to make this as the appreciation post for them for travelling with me until now. They will ready at all time to help me whenever i need them. I know not all have that kind of friends but im blessed with this guys around me. I hope they will be successfull in future and im here to ready to help them whenever they need me. Temporary people will come and go.. But the real love will stay with you forever.. MACHAN FOR LIFE.!

Briyani is life

Hye there! Today i decided to share about one of my favourite food. It is non other than BRIYANI. Briyani also known as ¨spicy rice¨, is a South Asian mixed rice dish of the Indian subcontinent. It is popular throughout the Indian subcontinent and among the diaspora from the region. It is made with spices, rice and meat (chicken, mutton, beef, prawn, or fish) or egg is also added. In Malaysia it is popular with the name like nasi beriani, nasi biryani, nasi briani. Usually this 'nasi briyani' will be served at wedding reception. The main ingredients of "nasi briyani" include spices and condiments such as ghee, nutmeg, mace, cumin, pepper, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bat leaves, coriander, mint leaves, ginger, onions and garlic. Most nasi biryani dishes are served with dahi chutney, korma, curry, a dish of eggplant, boiled egg, salad and also " Achar" (a pickled combination of cucumber, onions, red chilies and pineapple). I also would like to share about the simple briyani recipe to you guys so that you can try it out at your home.

Ingredients

 1 cup basmati rice
1⅓ cup water
½ cup coconut milk
1 onion
1 carrot
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp. minced ginger
½ tsp. turmeric powder
¼ tsp. coriander seeds
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
3 cloves
2 cardamom pods
1½ tsp. coarse salt
¼ tsp. pandan leaf extract
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

For the toppings:
¼ cup raisins
¼ cup toasted cashew nuts
1 small fried shallot

Directions:
Start by soaking the rice in 1⅓ cup of water and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Slice onion and carrot into thin strips.

In a pot, cook the onions and carrots along with 1 Tbsp of vegetable oil on a low heat until the carrots are soft and onions are translucent. This will take about three to four minutes. Once the onions and carrots are cooked, turn the heat up to high and toss in the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, coriander seeds and star anise, along with the remaining 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil. Cook for one minute or until you can smell the fragrance from all of the spices. If you don’t have whole spices, you can substitute each with ⅛ tsp. ground spice.

Stir in the coconut milk and the soaked rice, along with all of the soaking water and turmeric powder. Cook until it comes to a simmer. Stir in the pandan leaf extract and cover the pot. Turn the heat down to low and let it cook for 10 to 15 minutes. If you can find fresh pandan leaves, you can just tie two leaves into a knot and place it in the pot instead. For those who are not familiar with pandan leaf, it is a tropical plant that is used widely in Southeast Asian cooking. It’s got a very unique, almost creamy and sweet flavor. You can find the extract in Southeast Asian grocery stores or online. However, if you want to skip this step, that’s fine too. I have made this dish without the pandan in the past and it still tastes very delicious with all the spices and coconut milk. But the pandan leaf is what will give it the unique Malaysian taste.

While you are waiting for the rice to be cooked, you can prep the toppings. Lightly toast the cashew nuts in the toaster oven or on the stove top until it’s brown. To fry the shallots, slice them into thin rings. Fry the shallot on medium high heat with 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil until it’s brown and crispy (about 1-2 minutes).

Once the rice is cooked, toss in the raisins and fluff the rice very gently. Cover the rice up again and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the raisins to infuse with the rice. After that, sprinkle the fried shallots and cashew nuts on top of the rice and serve.

This is just my version of briyani which is the simplest way to cook. You also have this briyani with chicken sambal and mutton curry.

My first Shore Leave

Hye guys, today im going to share about how would it be walk around in the Japan for free๐Ÿ˜‚. Yes, Im going to tell about my first shorleave which fully sponsored by my chief mate. 6th April  my vessel, Puteri Firus Satu entered Negishi port, Japan at noon time. Out of noway my cheif mate came to me and my fellow cadet to go to shore leave along his wife. All  together 7 of us went for  shoreleave on tha sunny day. The weather was just perfect not so cold ann not so hot. The first check point was Negishi railway station. After we came down from ship the van took us to the Negishi railway station where we took train to the place other places like Kawasaki, Kanai and many more.
Under the Sakura tree

For me it was very exciting because this is the first time fo me stepping outside of Malaysia  The culture there was so new to me. Previously i just read somewhere that the Japanese people are so organized and that day i can witness by my eyes. They are really organized as you can see there will be smoking room at every conner of shopping mall where if people want to smoke they only allowed to smoke inside there. People cannot  smoke wherever they want. For me it is a great idea where our country also should implement the same system to reduce the passive smokers.
Japan Starbucks

It was a very exciting experience for me at there. I managed to buy some souvenirs back to my home with whatever fund i had. (still cadet) ๐Ÿ˜‚. We almost roam around at that town until 8pm and we took train way back to Negishi Station. We had our dinner at on of the tempura shop at there.

I would like ti take this moment to thank my cheif mate for fully sponsoring this shoreleave for both of us. It was nice experience indeed. Eventhough after came back we resume to our duty straight away it feels good when you experienced something you didn't experience before.

Bukit Broga

Bukit Broga is one of the best place to hike. It is only 400 metres high (1312 feet) and can easily be climebed in an hour but it is steep and challenging enough to get the heart pumping and lungs puffing. What's more, it is about the only hill in Peninsular Malaysia which is covered by lalang grass instead of trees so the views from the top are excellent. It is located at Broga, small town on the border of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

On 10th March, for the first time me and my friend decide to spend our weekend by hiking. Bukit Broga is perfect place for the hiking to the people who are first timer for the hiking world. For me the path of Bukit Broga to the top is not that challenging except on rainy days. I were quiet shocked to see the amout of people who visit the place at that day. The place was famous than what I thought.

The trail there is well worn and easy to follow. The trail climbs through a forested area fo 15 minutes or so before emerging at the foot of steep hill covered in grass. Here the tiring ascent begins but you will soon find yourself enjoying the fine views over the surrounding countryside. Take care, especially when coming back dow. The path can be slippery with mud, if it has been raining, or with, loose sand in the dry weather.

Overall, I feel Bukit Broga is a interesting place to hike. The veiw out there is so beautiful and also not that hard for a newbie to hike. It is very much advisable to wear proper shoe with strong grip to avoid any trip or fall.

INDAHNYA PENGALAMAN

Hye, bertermu kembali untuk blog kali ini.hahaa. Yaa, mungkin ini blog terakhir untuk sesi tahun 2018. Jika deberi kesempatan, bertemu kemba...
