On 27th January 18' , i went to Galeri Petronas located at Suria KLCC to see the final exhibition for its 2017 calendar. It is call "ALEGORI - Contemporary Art Expressions from Malay Manuscripts".
The Exhibition explores Malay metaphorical thinking through the Malay
manuscripts and the artistry of functional objects derived from various
disciplines of knowledge that are rudimentary to the Malay holistic view of the
world and arguably formed the foundation of the Malay identity. With the
canonical manuscripts of Sulalatus Salatin and Hikayat Hang Tuah and among 17
other significant manuscripts, the Exhibition showcases about 20 rare Malay
artefacts inspired by the Malay manuscripts. A selection of 10 contemporary
installation artworks will be concurrently presented by regional and local
artists, expressing Southeast Asian art’s singular appropriation of its traditional
and cultural elements.
Here are the example of the Manuscripts :

Since i don't have the manuscript photo on my phone, i have to get the photo somewhere else. The photo shows an example of Kitab Ilmu Bedil (MS 101) or Book of Traditional Weaponry, it is a Malay manuscript which is regarded as a traditional literary genre written
in the mid-19th century containing the precious traditional knowledge on
weaponry. It includes the making of traditional firearms, guns, firing and
shooting techniques, position, marksmanship, unerring, and ammunition.
They also exhibit a series of complementary programs to suit the
multi-interests of the public is being held throughout the duration of the
Exhibition. i'm attracted to one of the creation which is the 'Patung Asam Keping' and 'Patung Ikan Masin'. It is unique. Eventhough it uses salted fish and tamarind as the main medium, these two creation shows the creativity of the Curator.
