MT Bunga Angsana

I'm Nishante Francis and I sailed on MT Bunga Angsana for 6 and a half months. I have had tons of experience on this vessel be it the good or bad experience. I have experienced oil spills and mooring line parting. Those were the bad experiences.

However the good ones were me sailing to alot of countries where I had some good times. I also had good foods cooked by my chief cook. His nasi lemak was literally out of this world and I would die to eat that special nasi lemak again.

Life was tough on a chemical vessel. It was Monday everyday and there was work non stop everytime. I had my first break up on this vessel too and it was a nightmare to get through the rest 2 months before I sign off.

Overall this ship taught me many valuable lessons and this ship will always be my most memorable ship. Thank you Bunga Angsana for giving me the best 6 months of my life!

8 Ways To Improve Organising Skills

Organization skills are the one thing most successful sailors have in common.

Without the ability to organize your work and your resources, you could be twisting in the wind in no time. You may have been able to muddle along back in the day, but in today’s competitive environment, you need to work any advantage in your favor.

Fortunately, there are at least 8 ways to improve your organization skills without too much effort on your part.

Be proactive
Most sailors take the work one day at a time, coming in ready to take on whatever happens. However, that means you are reacting to a situation rather than preparing for it in advance. The best way to make the most of your day is to prepare for it in advance. Know what you need to do for the next day and make preparations for them before you leave for the day. This not only takes the guesswork out of your workday, it might even give you some insights or ideas of how to do the work better.

Make a list
Part of being proactive is making a list of all the things you need to do for each day. The benefits of this is of course so you don’t forget anything. An added bonus to making a list is crossing it out. It gives you not only a concrete way to keep track of the tasks you need to do, but it motivates you to keep doing it because it gives you such a sense of satisfaction and accomplishing crossing each item on your list. This is putting all your ducks in a row, and you shoot them down one by one, metaphorically speaking.

Make a schedule
At the same time you are planning the day and making your list of tasks, you should make a schedule, giving each task a prescribed time to do each one. You can ensure you meet all your deadlines, and nothing is left by the wayside.

Be an early bird
You are more likely to get more things done, and in time, if you start early. Of course, this should reflect on the work schedule you make, but getting started early also means there are other things you can do to keep you on your toes, such as daily exercise and a good breakfast. Starting early also means you avoid stress by having plenty of time to get to work and do anything else you need to do.

Establish a filing system
Most of your files are probably going to be digital, but you still need to know where everything you need is stored. Looking for lost files will take up as much of your time as looking for misplaced items. You need to make sure all your files are in its proper place. You should also have a master document of all your files, and the location of those files.

Minimize interruptions
You may think it is obvious, but you waste a lot of time dealing with interruptions to your work. This is why it is important to make a schedule. Follow the schedule and avoid distractions as much as possible. Turn off your mobile phone, close the door to your office, and avoid useless meetings.

Learn to delegate
You might think you are saving money by doing everything yourself. The fact is, you can save a considerable amount of time and effort by delegating tasks to the right people and focusing on core activities.

Organize your workplace
Whether you work alone, or you have employees, you want to arrange your work area so you can be more efficient. You can minimize the time and effort it takes to get things done. Even putting the photocopier next to where you keep your paper supplies can help save a few steps and trips that ultimately increase your productivity, and that of your employees.

Organization skills are crucial to the success of any sailors. Some sailors are naturally organized, but even if you aren’t, you can develop them. These 8 ways can help you improve your organization skills in practical and workable ways.

My IDOL M. J.

My hero is Michael Jackson. His full name is Michael Joseph Jackson and he was born on August 29th, 1958. His nicknames are ‘MJ’ and ‘The king of pop’. His father’s name is Joseph Walter and his mother’s name is Katherine Esther. He has 10 siblings including 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Michael was apart of a band called ‘The Jackson 5' or ‘J5'. The band consisted of brothers- Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and of course Michael. In 1972 Michael got a solo career and so far he has made 11 albums, and he is expecting to come out with another one this year. As a child, Michael had a strict life. His father would beat him with a belt when ever he did something wrong. He is my hero for 3 major reasons. One being that he suffers from a serious disease but he still insists on performing, and another is he cares about children, and lastly his music inspires people to be happy, and to be yourself no matter what others say about it.

Michael suffers from two can be fatal diseases called ‘vitiligo’ and the other is ‘lupus’. These diseases cause the pigment in your skin to disappear, causing your skin to be lighter. Although many people started rumors saying he was bleaching his skin, he kept his head high and insisted he wasn’t. The pressure of having a disease on top of people making up things about it, he still performed and be himself. With these diseases, he cant go out in the sun for very long or else the disease will come up again. He has to get hydroxychloroquin injected in his scalp regularly as well. With all this pressure, he continues to perform and entertain people. Lastly, he does not show it off that he has a disease, and he never expects any higher privileges or treatment than he has had all his life. All of this shows me that he is a determined person.

Michael cares about people and he provides a lot of money to charities. This shows me that Michael is a caring person and he isn’t selfish.Michael Jackson is an inspiration to many people, to this day. His music inspires people to dance, and sing. He’s an amazing dancer, and has incredible vocal cords. Most of the lyrics in his music aren’t just random words. One in particular is called ‘Black or white’ and it is about promoting racial unity. Another one is the song called ‘Beat it’. Its very popular, and a lot of people know it. Its about gang life, and living on the streets, and why it's dangerous. Another is ‘Heal the world’ and that just what it's about, Healing the world. Most of his music either has meaning, or just makes you happy. No matter what mood I'm in, if I hear a song on the radio like ‘P.Y.T.’ or ‘Thriller’ I can’t help but smile. Lastly, with all this in mind, his music teaches everyone to smile, and his music isn’t just random words, it all means something.

-"I said if you're thinkin’ of being my baby It don’t matter if you're black or white"~Black or White~
"Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me. There are people dying...If you care enough for the living, make a better place for you and for me." ~Heal The World~
"No one wants to be defeated
Showin’ how funky or strong is your fight-
It doesn’t matter who's wrong or right."~Beat It~

In conclusion, Michael Jackson is my hero because even through his diseases and rumors about it, he’s determined to please the crowds. Also, he cares about people and not just himself and lastly, he is an inspiration to this day. This is why, Michael Joseph Jackson, is my hero.

MAS

Malaysia Airlines has become the first airline to sign a deal for space-based monitoring of its aircraft’s flightpath. It’s a coup for the carrier, which is still reeling from the loss of the missing MH370 three years ago.
The agreement, signed with three aerospace companies—Aireon, SITAONAIR, and FlightAware—will allow Malaysia Airlines to track its flights via satellite as they cross remote oceans, pass over polar regions, or travel anywhere else in the world Bloomberg reports, citing a press release from Aireon.

Malaysia Airlines Chief Operating Officer Izham Ismail said in the release: “Real-time global aircraft tracking has long been a goal of the aviation community. We are proud to be the first airline to adopt this solution.”
The location of most international-bound planes can already be monitored via a type of signal periodically broadcast from the aircraft called ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast). These signals can be received by air traffic control ground stations and by other aircraft. They can also be tracked from space. Aireon, which is launching a new satellite network with a company called Iridium Communications, expects to complete its space-based monitoring system in 2018. However, it is unclear that such a network would have been able to track Malaysia Airline’s Flight 370, which disappeared with 239 people aboard on March 8, 2014. Because the plane’s location transmission system went dead, the type of signals a satellite network receives would not have been broadcast, Bloomberg reports.

Although debris from MH370 has washed up onto African beaches and islands in the Indian Ocean, the main wreckage was never found.

My Dream Car

The new Mercedes-AMG A 45 extends its ground-breaking paradigms with an emphatic injection of “more”: More Aggressive Styling. More Driving Dynamics. And even more enthralling POWER – 381 horses of it – solidifying its position as the most powerful series-produced 4-cylinder passenger car engine in the world. Breaking the Rules has never been so Dynamic.

In conjunction with the launch of its facelifted W176 A-Class, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also took the opportunity to unleash its most hardcore version of the model here, the Mercedes-AMG A 45. The significantly updated baby AMG is priced at RM 348,888 (OTR without insurance).
